What happens if I cancel my subscription?
Two words: Missed Opportunity.
To replace us will cost significantly more time and money, bloat your tech stack, and most likely never work as well as our all-in-one solution does. Just think of having to learn a whole new platform.
Why not book a demo? We can all but guarantee there are more ways for you to get the most out of Semrush.
If you’re a Business or Guru subscriber, you can also downgrade your plan to save money, leverage reduced Semrush capabilities, and scale back up when it makes sense for you. We’ll even keep your existing Project data saved for 30 days, just in case you change your mind and want to go back to a more robust plan. Please, note, that your new subscription will start immediately.
To downgrade from Business to Guru, or Guru to Pro, simply contact support and we’ll get you taken care of. As always, we’ll save your Projects data for 30 days, just in case you decide to re-upgrade.
If you choose to downgrade to a free plan, you’ll have one month to change your mind, after which all data will be lost — with the exception of your first saved project.
We hate to see you go.

If your reason is something else and we can’t change your mind, there are two ways to cancel:
- Follow this link, complete the form, and press the “Submit” button. A customer service representative will contact you shortly after.
- Log into your account, navigate to your Subscription Info page, find the link that says “active” next to “recurring” and follow the “contact us” link to the cancellation form.

If for some reason you can’t log in to your account and need to cancel, please contact our Support team and a team member will be happy to help you through the process.
When contacting us via email, please use the email address associated with your account and include the following data:
- The email address associated with your paid account or account with a free trial;
- The last four digits of the credit card number you use for payments, and the type of credit card used (please keep your data secure and don’t provide us with the full credit card number);
- The billing amount and date of your last payment.
This data will help us to easily identify your Semrush account and modify your subscription as quickly as possible.

Ouch. If you don’t even want all the benefits that our free accounts provide, we hope you’ll give us an opportunity to learn why and how we can do better.
To protect your account, we’ve put several safeguards in place.
- You can delete your free account at any time by sending a request to our Support team via this link as described in our Terms of Service (7.4 De-Registration).
- To have your account deleted from our system, you will get a separate email with a removal activation link from us that must be used in order for us to take action on the request. This is required to ensure that the deletion is intentional and desired by the user. The link will be active for 72 hours.
- Once you activate the removal process (and we have no other obligations to process your data), your account will be deleted within 30 days.

Time is of the essence.
Whether you forgot to cancel at the end of your free trial, or have decided you no longer want the all-in-one, business growth opportunities Semrush provides, you can receive a refund for the net price of your claim if the request is made within 7 days of your billing date. We typically process refunds within 30 days, to the same card or account your first payment was made with.
